Qualifying and securing skilled workers in the future digitalized world of work: Multimedia teaching and learning arrangement for the adoption of ICT technologies in the skilled trades (FachWerk)Information and communication technologies (ICT) are spreading increasingly in almost all areas of private and professional life and are indispensable for the way people structure their lives today. However, the craft sector still stands at the beginning of the digitalization process, since a high proportion of manual, experience-based and non-automated activities characterize craft work. Nevertheless, an increasing need for qualifications in the use of information and communication technologies can also be observed here. As an example for the building trade and the electrical guild, FachWerk is pursuing the goal of qualifying skilled craftsmen for the future use of the potential of information and communication technologies by developing and testing a multimedia teaching and learning arrangement in line with demand.Led by: Prof. Dr. Steffi RobakTeam:Year: 2017Funding: BMBFDuration: 02/2017 - 01/2020

Competence development among company executives of transformation processesIn this project, the work of works councils in the context of transformation processes is examined by means of a literature study. The aim of the study is to explore the possibilities and limits of competence development and professionalisation of works council committees and elected representatives. Work & Qualification 2030. Resources and Strategies for Sustainable Work and Qualification in Innovative Transformation ProcessesThe research project examines the transformation of work activities in the automotive industry and the associated qualification requirements using the example of the Volkswagen Group. The project focuses on two central developments: digitalization - i.e. the transformation in the area of products (e.g. autonomous driving) and processes (Industry 4.0) - and the transformation towards electromobility. For the automotive industry, the latter goes hand in hand with a profound change in the structure of the workforce, as knowledge and skills in the field of internal combustion engine technologies are losing relevance and new skills and knowledge stocks have to be developed. Within the framework of case studies, job clusters in the company (manufacturing, logistics, planning, etc.) are examined and, in a further step, new qualification strategies and possibilities are researched and developed.Led by: Prof. Dr. Rita MeyerTeam:Year: 2021Funding: Nachhaltigkeitsbeirat der Volkswagen AGDuration: 03/2021 - 08/2022

Experiences and perspectives of digital teaching and development at vocational schools (DigiU-VET)The digital transformation is bringing about changes in all areas of society. In education in particular, it affects not only the digital design of teaching, but also the transformation of work and organizational processes (e.g., IT infrastructures, working hours and locations). The impact and constraints of the Covid 19 pandemic have enormously accelerated digitization, moving teaching and organizing school operations almost entirely into virtual space. The particular experiences during and after the Covid 19 pandemic have initiated a rethinking of the previous school organization and opened up the question of new forms of organization. The attitudes and motives of teachers as well as their retrospective experiences from the Covid 19 pandemic will be surveyed by means of a Germany-wide cross-sectional survey. The aim of the survey is to identify design potentials and challenges for future work and organizational processes at vocational schools against the backdrop of the digital transformation.Led by: Prof. Dr. Thomas Bals (Universität Osnarbrück), Prof. Dr. Uwe Fasshauer (PH Schwäbisch-Gmünd), Prof. Dr. Karl-Heinz Gerholz (Sprecher, Universität Bamberg), Prof. Dr. Julia Gillen (Universität Hannover)Year: 2020Funding: BVLB Die BerufsbildnerDuration: 07/2020 - 07/2021

Theoria cum praxi: Promoting Reflective Agency as a Leibniz Principle of Teacher Education. (Leibniz Principle 2)The second funding phase of the "Leibniz Principle" started at the beginning of 2019. The goal of the Leibniz Principle is to further develop cross-faculty structures at the university and thereby contribute to a sustainable improvement in the quality of teacher education in Hannover. In this context, the promotion of Reflective Capacity for Action acts as a link for all related measures. We consider the ability to act in a reflective manner to be a decisive key competence to be developed in the course of one's professional biography. In our view, it ensures successful teaching in the long term and is derived from Leibniz's idea of linking theory and practice in an insight-oriented manner. In accordance with the motto "Theoria cum praxi", we would like to embed a goal-oriented teaching of theory in structured practical components. In this way, we provide prospective teachers with a solid foundation for their demanding profession.
