However, the craft sector still stands at the beginning of the digitalization process, since a high proportion of manual, experience-based and non-automated activities characterize craft work. Nevertheless, an increasing need for qualifications in the use of information and communication technologies can also be observed here. Resources and Strategies for Sustainable Work and Qualification in Innovative Transformation ProcessesThe research project examines the transformation of work activities in the automotive industry and the associated qualification requirements using the example of the Volkswagen Group. The project focuses on two central developments: digitalization - i.e. the transformation in the area of products (e.g. autonomous driving) and processes (Industry 4.0) - and the transformation towards electromobility. For the automotive industry, the latter goes hand in hand with a profound change in the structure of the workforce, as knowledge and skills in the field of internal combustion engine technologies are losing relevance and new skills and knowledge stocks have to be developed. Experiences and perspectives of digital teaching and development at vocational schools (DigiU-VET)The digital transformation is bringing about changes in all areas of society.
